Dr Hayley Baker

I am Joint Venture Partner of Vets4Pets Cambridge Barnwell Road and Cambridge Beehive. I grew up in Guildford, Surrey and qualified from Cambridge University in 2008. I went on to work at a small animal practice in Reading. From there I moved to Cork in Ireland where I worked at a small animal hospital with a high case load of emergencies and traumas which is where my passion for emergency and critical care developed, with a particular interest in soft tissue surgery.I have taken over the laparoscopic surgeries in the practice and I have an advanced qualification in Endoscopy and Endosurgery. This means in addition to our very popular Laparoscopic (Keyhole) spaying I am now able to offer a range of surgeries by keyhole including gastropexies, abdominal organ biopsies, intestinal foreign removal, bladder stone removals and more. Keyhole is the gold standard for most human surgeries so I am very excited to be able to offer this to our furry patients now. I moved back to Cambridge in 2012 when I started with Vets4Pets. After a brief break to have my daughter, Evie, I returned as Joint Venture Partner in 2015 for both our Practices. My free time is taken up looking after my two labradoodles Humphrey and Cass. I am so excited about getting to work with our fantastic team again and look forward to seeing all our lovely patients soon!

I have been nursing since 2007 and qualified as an RVN in 2009. I have worked in a mixture of small animal and mixed practices across the British Isles, from large veterinary hospitals to small practices. I hold certificates in Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species and Emergency and Critical Care. I have also co-authored part of a veterinary nursing textbook on exotic pets and wildlife.
I am passionate about our native wildlife, and being involved with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation led to the start of my career in veterinary nursing. Preventative healthcare and welfare of pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs and birds is something I am keen to educate pet owners about. I also have a keen interest in anaesthesia and pain management.

Charlotte Pace qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003, whilst working in practice in London. In the same year she moved to the Royal Veterinary College to work as a medicine nurse. In 2006 she became cardiology nurse for the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. In 2010 she passed American veterinary technician exams and became the first nurse to hold the Cardiology qualification outside the US. From 2012 to 2015, Charlotte taught veterinary nurses on both degree and diploma programmes. In 2015 she returned to veterinary practice, and continues to write and lecture on veterinary cardiology. She will be President of the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) 2022-2023. She has a passion for cats, and serves Arthur, her black and white rescue cat. They have lived happily together for 10 years.
